When I first began in the Estate Sale Business I learned that sterling and silver-plated serving and display pieces are much more appealing if ‘they are polished’.
Occasionally, I’ve not used gloves—it's not recommended. The black staining from the tarnish dissolving will stain your nails and fingers for days. Any kitchen cleaning or latex gloves will do the trick.
My Favorite Silver Polish is Wright’s Silver Cream. It polishes easily with the sponge in the jar, and for the tricky pierced, repousse, or handles try a soft toothbrush to apply and work in the polish. It’s now available at almost any big box store and some local hardware stores.
Please, for the love of all things pretty, Stay Away from Tarn-X. It never cleans to a high shine and the fumes will KNOCK YOU OUT!
